That's right people! I'm fasting! Only eating fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts and only drinking water, tea and natural fruit juice. Check the vid for details:
I confess, there are many hair products I haven't even tried yet! I have been sticking with my same old Organic Root Stimulator family (love them), shea butter, occassional moisturizer and extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), and that's about it!
I confess, experimenting with additional products is not really in my budget right now, haha. But I will start participating in the challenges such as those I find on Hairlista and such and also posting vids about products that work for me and concoctions that I've created - I already have a few in mind.
I confess, I'm posting multiple entries tonight because I won't have time later.
Umm, yeah. This is picture is not even CLOSE to showing you what I'm experiencing right now. Stretching sucks, period. Although it's good for your hair, if you're not careful, you could experience the most breakage during your stretching period.
What is stretching? Stretching is extending the time between your relaxers. Many women touch up their relaxers at the first sight of new growth. Bad! Wait a few weeks! I like to have at least one inch of new growth before I retouch.
What is the purpose of stretching? Stretching helps you prevent overlapping, as in, relaxing hair that was previously relaxed. Overprocessed strands break. And because I don't want to have overprocessed, broken hair, I stretch. Instead of dealing with breakage, I deal with unruly new growth! I cant comb my hair regularly and I cant straighten because the new growth just looks baaaaad under the straight hair. Here are some rules by which I abide during these stretching times:
Only comb hair when wet.
Apply conditioner to new growth GENEROUSLY. This makes it softer. :)
Don't bother pressing those roots unless it's cold outside. Why? The Miami heat will make those roots go "poof" as soon as I step outside.
Hairstyle for the day: roller set! Requires no heat and very little manipulation. If I braid my hair, I do it while it's wet.
Yes, my new growth is important but I wouldn't dare neglect the hair I already have!
Friend + enemy = frenemy. Stretching is your friend. Stretching helps you keep your length and helps minimize damage to your old hair. Just because you got a little new growth doesn't mean you can treat your old growth like crap! Unfortunately, stretching can be perceived as the enemy also because of all the adjustments you have to make during this period. However, it's all for the best for your hair. No one ever got ahead without facing an obstacle, and your hair won't either.
